The Best Sunday Brunches in Ortaköy, Istanbul

Turks love their breakfast, or kahvalti, and often treat it as the most important meal of day. With so many variations, you can enjoy a rich assortment of foods that will truly provide the fuel you need for a day of exploration and adventure.

Our Special Menu

Sunday brunch is one of the best times to hang out with friends and let the time pass as you soak in the cosmopolitan vibe over a great meal. At Hotel Büyük Keban we are quite biased when it comes to brunch, as we are famous for our breakfast spread. With the freshest variety of ingredients, you can enjoy a true Turkish breakfast with us, or just a few selections, before heading out to check out a later brunch on the town.

Traditional Turkish Breakfast

Just what is Turkish breakfast? Starting with a traditional Turkish tea, you will move on to the many delicious choices that make the meal so fulfilling. With a wide variety of cheeses, including the creamy white kaşar peyniri, you can select a platter that includes black and green olives, boiled eggs (yumurta), an omelette, sucuk or dried sausage made from ground beef spiced with garlic, cumin, sumac, and red pepper. Have it with eggs (sucuklu yumurta) or order a börek made from thin sheets of dough filled with vegetables or minced meat and cheese. Adorned with cucumbers and tomatoes, there is nothing like a traditional platter with a Turkish coffee to end your meal.

Brunching in Ortaköy

One of the best places to enjoy brunch is in the Ortaköy district of Istanbul. Ortaköy, which means Middle Village, is in the Old City, right on the banks of the Bosphorus. Filled with cafes, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and galleries, it’s an exciting place to be. With the Ortaköy Mosque right by the water, you will be in the company of the ancient and the new, with great sites to visit and an international flow of people to watch.

Here are a few of our recommendations for great Sunday brunches in Ortaköy: The House Café Ortaköy

This well-known café offers an amazing view of the Bosphorus from its two large terraces. Check out the chic marble décor, from bar to floor, tables, and booths. Chef Coşkun Uysal has been called the next Jamie Oliver by Food and Wine magazine, offering sumptuous Turkish and international recipes.

Bloom

This funky spot offers a Turkish, Mediterranean, and Italian menu and is famous for its thin crust pizzas and open brunch buffet. Here among the industrial décor or on the large terrace you’ll get a great homemade meal as you mix with the young and hip.

Galata Konak Café

Boasting a stunning rooftop terrace, the view from this café is amazing. Enjoy the crisp cakes and other daily baked items along with a well-prepared tea or Turkish coffee.

Bebek Kahve

For a great traditional Turkish breakfast, this old-fashioned locale is in a quiet area on the waterfront and is great for watching locals and celebrities who are trying to keep a low profile.

These are just the tip of the iceberg – Istanbul is one of the world’s great culinary cities. Come discover the wonders of Istanbul cuisine today!
