The Holy Turkish Coffee and Istanbul’s Best Cafes

When you travel, one of the greatest joys is trying out the food and refreshments available in other countries. Even name brand drinks will have a different taste in other regions due to variances in sugar cane, chocolate and other ingredients. Some of the finest coffee to be enjoyed can be found on the streets of Istanbul. Whether you’re traveling to the city for business or pleasure, here are just a few of the cafes you might want to visit while you’re in the country. Katmerler

Take your choice of coffee flavors by stopping in at this oasis. There are multiple vendors in this area offering coffee, tea, and jumbo television screens. If you’re looking for a snack, then you can find the perfect thing to hit the spot among the vendors selling nuts, appetizers and an array of different fruits. Vendors also move through the open area, so you may not even have to give up your spot in order to get another coffee or bite to eat. Eminönü Ferry Docks

The real joy here is to be found in the view. Located on a peninsula, it provides you with spectacular views in all directions. After you spend some time shopping for fresh corn on the cob or unique leather goods, you can sit back at one of the cafes and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee. It’s sure to turn into a memorable experience that you’ll enjoy for the rest of your life. Galata Konak Cafe

Enjoy a birds’ eye view of the city by traveling to the top of a three-story historic building. A small elevator will transport you to this indoor café that provides you with a stunning view of the old city. You can head out to the terrace for a better view, or you can remain in the shaded comfort while you enjoy your coffee. A Sunday breakfast buffet is available if you’re going to be in the city over a weekend.

Pierre Loti Café, Halic

Take in the Golden Horn in all its glory by traveling to the Pierre Loti Café. Visitors can take a cable car from Eyüp to this popular destination. Named for the famous novelist who loved visiting the café for the views and food, this is one of the most impressive sights in the city. The waiters wear traditional clothes of velvet embroidered vests and salvar pants, and you’ll be pleased with the service. The café is also open at night so that you can take in the incredible views when the city lights give everything a unique look.

If you’re visiting Istanbul, consider staying at Hotel Büyük Keban. We just recently finished renovations in order to provide our guests with the amenities that they want and need. One of the most appealing aspects of the hotel is that it’s located within the old city and within walking distance of public transportation. Guests find it easy to slip out for a cup of coffee or to grab a meal and some incredible views at any of these nearby cafes.
